St. Aidan Wishaw 1

The Comboni retreat was to try to connect and get closer with God. The plan for the day was that we went to 3 different stations: meditating, watching a video and talking to Sister Aurora and listen to her talk about Africa and see the slides. We also had a break and lunchtime. In meditating I remember hearing a story and thinking to myself that it was unfair. I also saw a house very far away and lots of fields surrounding it. When we saw the slide show with Sister Aurora I was horrified as the children were so thin! I also felt helpless, upset, sad and also angry. In the video I remember feeling sad as I never knew children taken out of their homes and were taught to be soldiers. I remember that the missionaries talked so passionately about helping these people. When watching the video and slide show everyone felt upset and it all struck in their minds. I think everyone also felt lucky for what they have got. I enjoyed this day out and liked the gardens. I learned new things and it has inspired me to help people less fortunate than me. I also realised I take some things for granted. I think God touched everyone especially at the mass. The Comboni retreat was successful with everyone I enjoyed it. Thank you for a lovely day!
