St. Aidan Wishaw 1

On Thursday 21 February we went on retreat to the Comboni Fathers’ house and learned about the missionaries. The plan for the day was to go around stations with sister aurora and Father Donato. At first we were with Sister Aurora, who told us about her heart-breaking story of when she was in Sudan. I felt ashamed to think about how many things we take for granted and how much more we can do to help people in Sudan and Africa. I remember when Sister Aurora was telling us about how desperate she was to help people and how she wanted to go back! I think I will always remember what Sister Aurora said I would love to do the same when I am older. When we were with Fr. Donato we were reading news articles about children in Malawi and Sudan and how they are forced into the army at a very young age. I remember reading an article about a 10 year old boy who was forced into the army and was taught very quickly how to use a gun, the young boy from Uganda was told that if he didn’t kill his friends, then he would be killed himself. All the stories that I read really made me think about what is going on in third world countries. Our last activity of the day was meditation I was really looking forward to this as it gave me time to relax and reflect on the day. I really enjoyed myself at the Comboni Fathers’ house. I respect everything that the missionaries do and hope I will be able to do that. Thank you for my day. (Danielle Moore)
