Declan

St. Aidan Wishaw 2

We were going to the retreat to talk about choices. The three activities we participated in were meditation where we were told a story from the bible and we gave feedback on the story. The second activity was with Father Donato when we talked about wars in other countries and then watched a video about child soldiers. The last activity was with Sister Aurora, where we watched the slides she had of her time in Africa, and then we wrote a prayer about what we had just seen. The most instinctive thing I remember about the day was when I saw the 3 year old child who was so malnourished that the child looked only a few months old. I was feeling extremely sad when I saw the child, I couldn’t believe that the child was 3 years old, I had never seen anything like it before. For me the day was a mixture of enjoyment and sadness. It was sad because of the things I learned about the wars and the child soldiers. The day was enjoyable for me because I was able to have a calm and fun day. Thank you very much for the day I thoroughly enjoyed it. It has changed my outlook on the war-torn and poor countries completely. Thank you (Declan McKenna)
