Africa in St. Daniel Comboni's times
We are just moving our first steps together. As stated in the ‘mission statement’ this web will grow by putting together each one’s personal interest, research and findings on the different topics related to mission, human situations in the world, justice, peace, fair trade, social development and all other possible issues connected with mission and the proclamation of the Gospel to the world. Since St. Daniel Comboni is our main source of inspiration, I would like to start by looking into the challenges he himself had to face in his life when he realized that his call was to spend all his life for the spiritual, human and social well-being of the African People. One thing is certainly true: the world is always positively changed only by people who decide to dedicate their lives to make it a better place to be lived in.
As an initial help for your research I write down a few questions. You can use any source available to you.
1. Give some biographical notes about Daniel Comboni
2. What was the dream of Daniel Comboni?
3. What were his difficulties to fulfil his dream?
4. What was his attitude in facing his choice of life?
5. What was the situation of Africa at the time?
6. What were his reasons for going to Africa?
“Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News to all creation” (Mk. 16,16)
